Freight Packing & Labelling Guide

Packing Right = Delivering Right

View Safe Packaging Tips

Follow these five steps to prepare a pallet that is safe, stable, and carrier-ready.

1. Stack in Columns

Stack boxes in vertical columns for maximum strength. For rigid items, a bricklayer pattern adds extra stability.

2. No Overhang

All items must sit squarely within the pallet edges. Overhanging freight is not accepted and will incur a surcharge.

3. Keep It Flat

The top surface must be level and strong enough to allow stacking. Non-stackable pallets attract additional fees.

4. Strap & Wrap

Use two straps from both sides and/or stretch wrap - securing both the cargo and the pallet base together.

5. Label Correctly

Affix labels to the side of the pallet, not the top. Place a backup copy inside one of the boxes.

Quick Packing Checklist

  • Use new or strong double-walled boxes
  • Fill empty spaces with bubble wrap or packing peanuts
  • Never exceed the weight rating of your pallet
  • Fragile items go on top, heaviest at the bottom
  • Wrap the entire pallet in stretch film for extra protection

Mistakes to Avoid

Overhanging cargo

Items extending beyond edges are rejected.

Unlevel top

Uneven tops incur a non-stackable surcharge.

How to Label Your Shipment

Correct labelling is just as important as correct packing. A missing or misplaced label can cause your freight to be delayed, misdirected, or returned.

  • Label Placement: Attach labels to the side of the pallet or box - never the top.

  • Non-stackable: Fix labels clearly on the item or use cones to flag non-stackable status.

  • Stretch-wrapped: Apply the label before wrapping, or place it on top of the wrap in a clear sleeve.

  • Pro Tip: Each pallet must carry its own label. Place a duplicate inside a box.
